Hello, my name is Aidan Pollard. I’m a 2022 graduate from Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a 3.9 GPA during my first semester of High School. I started playing lacrosse in 2013. All of those years since I’ve been playing with the Sioux Falls Spark, which is a team within the Dakota Premiere Lacrosse League. This league is relatively new but has grown since its establishment.
While in-season and during the off-season, I train at Forged Strength. My training emphasizes my speed, athleticism, and strength. I’ve been going to Forged Strength for the last three years. During those years, I have increased my athleticism and strength exceedingly. I also play hockey for the Sioux Falls Flyers during the Winter season. Playing hockey during off- with my play on the lacrosse field. Hockey helps with my athleticism on the lacrosse field as well as my physicality, which is another aspect of my play. I use my body to me on the lacrosse field as much as I use my stick and feet. I also pride myself on my ability to keep a calm mental state of mind. The team is always first. And if my head gets in the way, I’m no good to my team who leans on me to be a leader and relies on me as their captain.
In the last two years, my 14u team has won a first place title and a second place title. Both teams I’ve served as one of our captains.
The season my team won state, I took a shot from the top of the box. I scored on this shot, which took us to overtime. We then went on to win this game. But as I took the shot a player on the other team cross-checked me in the side of the neck. I went to the bench after the hit. When I got back to the bench everyone was asking me if I was fine and in the midst of that one of the defensemen on my team asked me for his number. I replied telling him to forget about it and play lacrosse so we could hoist that trophy at the end of the game. That is one of the many reasons that I am a team captain, and a good one. Other reasons include my leadership, athleticism, and my role as an attackman on the team.
My main position while playing 14u has been attack. As an attackman, my area of emphasis has been at X. I’ve also had success as a midfielder who possesses the ability to win a majority of the faceoffs that I take.
I have a powerful influence on the lacrosse field. By the end of last season, I led my team in both goals and assists. I have a pass-pass-shoot playstyle. I prefer to settle the offense and make enough passes until a hole opens up and I can shoot or I can pass the ball to a teammate for a scoring chance. My assists are just as important to me as my goals to the success of the team.
I would be a valuable asset to any team. My focus is on using the strengths I possess, knowledge of the game and instincts I’ve developed to lead my team to success on the field.
