Personal Statement
My Name is Reid James Montreal, and I am currently a Sophomore at Acellus Academy. I am the middle child of 3 (Corbin 19 and Faith 14). My parents were in the U.S. Army, and it allowed me to live in several locations in the US and overseas. In 2016 my dad retired, and we moved to Salem, South Dakota.
When I was younger one of my brother’s football teammates introduced us to the game of lacrosse while living in Japan. I immediately fell in love with the game and played that season. We later moved to West Point, New York where I was a member of the Junior Black Knights Lacrosse Club. West Point allowed me to attend several camps/clinics to help with my skills.
While living in New York I knew that I wanted to play lacrosse after high school. Living in South Dakota has taught me many different things that I may have not faced while living on the east or west coast. I live in a state that currently doesn’t have lacrosse as a high school sport. We often find ourselves traveling long distances to play in tournaments or even attend camps.
South Dakota is also a state that loves baseball and football. So we are always struggling to find new kids to help continue the growth of our sport in the state. Living through these adversities has made me a better player and person. My love for lacrosse makes me continue to always want to better myself academically and as a leader.
Currently, I have a desire to pursue a major in sports management.
