I became interested in lacrosse when I was talking to my parents about trying a new sport and my mom suggested lacrosse. Since I normally do what she says, I switched from baseball to lacrosse in the 4th grade. Over time, lacrosse has taught me certain life lessons. It has helped me build relationships with my teammates and become a better leader. Over the years, my busy lacrosse schedule has taught me to manage my time so that I can maintain good grades, participate in extracurricular activities and continually work to improve my game.
While lacrosse is growing in Memphis, it is relatively small. Therefore, I have become a dedicated student of the game. In addition to studying film of my team’s games, I enjoy watching film of other teams, YouTube highlight reels of other high school and college players and coach’s training videos. I enjoy watching my favorite players and working to mirror their style of play. I have a very good relationship with my coaches and enjoy discussing our last game, our next game, and how I can improve my play and help my teammates improve their games. I take pride in understanding the history of the game, different styles of play and working to improve my lacrosse I.Q. I believe this work has allowed me to be a more versatile player and helps me to successfully play both midfield and attack.
While I love to play lacrosse, my focus is on getting the best education I can get. I go to a great and challenging high school that I know will prepare me for the next level. I am looking forward to competing at the highest levels on the field and in the classroom.
