Hello,
My name is Elijah Jackson; I am currently a junior and attending Gateway College Preparatory School in Georgetown, TX. I was born on December 17, 2002, in Harrisburg, PA. I am currently 5’9” and 205 Lbs. I would say life experiences and watching my mother overcome some of the most challenging struggles of her life have influenced who I am.
My stick handling skills are stronger with my right hand, but I am working on developing my left to make it just as strong. My primary position is midfielder and my secondary is attack. I have also played faceoff. I have been a starter on Varsity since the ninth grade. During my Sophomore season, I was the only one on my team to receive All-District that wasn’t a Senior. In my own words, I am an athlete and I love the game of lacrosse.
Playing sports began at three years old. I started with soccer, football, baseball, and track. I realized early on I loved to play football and soccer. It wasn’t till I aged out of both and neither sport was offered at my school, that is when I found Lacrosse. I had no idea what this sport was, but I wanted to play. I told my mom and my journey began. My first two years of being coached taught me the basics and information regarding the sport. The years following a new coach from the east coast exposed me to a totally different ball game. I was so hype and welcomed the opportunity to grow. This opportunity has given me the space to learn something new every day and every day I am growing athletically and academically. I respect the game and the people that I have played with. So far through this journey I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership. I would really love to find a forum where I can continue to grow under experienced coaches.
When I am not on the field I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. Every summer for the past four years, I participate in a church mission trip. Also, I participate in a mentorship program called Littles. I mentor elementary students who are interested in learning the game of lacrosse.
My goals for high school are to continue to improve my grades, build positive relationships with my teachers throughout the rest of my high school career, and to advance my skills as a lacrosse player. When it comes to my college goals, I want to continue working on my personal growth. For example, growing as an individual in all things in my life, spirituality, mentally, emotionally, physically, academically, and athletically. I pride myself at being a leader for those individuals that need it so, I would like to grow in that area as well. I would love the opportunity to play lacrosse at the college level to increase my skill level playing under an amazing coaching staff. Lastly, my goal is to be the second one in my family, following in my mom’s footsteps to graduate from college.
