Personal Statement
I believe effort, commitment, and attitude are the most important characteristics of a successful person. I try to demonstrate each of these qualities to the best of my ability all day, in everything I do.
I take pride in doing my best, putting in 100% effort, whether studying where my effort will be graded, at practice on the field where everyone can see me, or on a Sunday afternoon when it’s just me, my stick, a ball, and a brick wall.
I love being a goalie in lacrosse. The rush I feel when the ball is shot at me is like no other feeling. After I push myself mentally throughout the school day, lacrosse gives me a chance to push myself physically on the field. I am committed to eating well and pushing my body to the limit. I believe in loyalty and am committed to my teammates on and off the field, in season and off season.
Coaches describe me as a positive, energetic, hard-working, no-excuses leader. (At the bottom of this statement is a link to a speech my varsity coach gave about me when I won the MVP award for defense in Football this year.) As a teammate, I lead by example. I’m one of the first players on the field and one of the last off the field. I don’t mind carrying out the ball bucket or moving a net, to me it’s all part of being a dedicated, responsible member of my team.
My goal is to attend a college or university that challenges me academically and to proudly represent that school on the lacrosse field. -Brett Bohlmann
