Personal Statement
Miami Beach Rowing Club is my current team. I have been rowing with this team for 4 years now, starting on the novice team in 8th grade and working up to varsity by 10th Grade till now. I can row both port and starboard, I scull and sweep, and I can row in most boats. I have most of my racing and practicing experience in the 8, however I also have experience in the 4, quad, and single. I am very coachable and will do what is necessary to improve. I am very flexible in my college selection, but I am looking for a rigorous education.
My 8 won second place in our Florida State Youth Championships, and went on to win first in the Southwest Regional Youth Championships. I won the Most Improved Rower award at my club.
Rowing is a major passion for me and has changed not only my life, but my family's life. My family and I are healthier, stronger, and more health conscious. It has inspired me to keep up good grades and work hard on my schoolwork. The demanding sport has taught me so many important skills such as time management, the importance of work ethic, and the necessity of respect. These are all things i would love to pursue in college. Rowing is a lifestyle I've come to love and embrace and I'm not ready to give it up yet.
