Personal Statement
Hi my name is Kieren Sinclair. I live in East London, South Africa. I have grown up around water sports and when I started rowing, I found I really enjoyed it. I have been rowing for 5 years and currently row for Selborne College, in the 1st 8 and stroke the 2nd 4. I am also the 2nd pair for Selborne. We are currently in the middle of our rowing season and have many regatta s coming up. SA champs takes place in March, where I will represent Selborne. In SA Champs last year our 2nd 8 came 3rd overall and won a Bronze medal.
I enjoy the challenge that rowing offers and have learnt to focus and strive for my goals. Rowing has also taught me discipline and determination and I really enjoy the fact that is a team sport, as we have had great fun as a team.
In the Academic area, I achieived school Academic Colors last year and am striving for Honors. I am currently doing IT as an additional subject and have completed the Silver Level for the Presidents Award.I am also a Library prefect and am part of the Technology Society. I enjoy having varied interests.
I look forward to College and would really like to broaden my horizons by studying in The USA. Rowing, while studying has always been part of my plan and I feel that the USA Colleges will give me a unique experience. I am interested in the Science based degrees, with a special interest in the computer (IT) and Human Biology areas. I would like to try to combine these areas.
I am really excited by what experiences and opportunities I could encounter over the next few years and would really like to have the opportunity to do this while studying and rowing in the USA.
