Personal Statement
I am a rower, a wrestler, a student and a brother. I love and have a drive to compete and thrive under physical challenge. I am 6’1, 180 lbs from St. Paul, Minnesota. I will be a senior this fall and will graduate in 2020. I have been a part of the Minnesota Boat Club for 2 years and was rowing when we won the Lipton Cup from the 2018 North West International Rowing Association. I have been a Co-Captain on the junior boy’s rowing team for 6 months, and I can sweep both Port and Star proficiently as well as row all forms of Sculling boats. In addition I have cross-trained with my school's wrestling team for 3 years and have been wrestling at the Varsity level for the last 2 years. I will be on the Varsity team again this year as a senior year. I have a 3.49 GPA and scored a 30 on the ACT. I am looking to row in college because this sport is when I am the happiest, and it satisfies my need to compete. I am a dedicated athlete and I need an outlet to push myself physically and mentally. I want a medium size to smaller college where I can pursue a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering that is preferably along the west coast or in the northwestern United States, although I am open to going elsewhere. I would ideally like to row with a DII or DIII team that trains hard and is competitive, where I would be challenged and forced to improve my skills.
