Personal Statement
I currently row for PNRA/Mercer rowing, known as one of the best high school rowing programs in the country. I have been rowing with Mercer for 4 years now, and I started off with a summer camp my seventh grade summer. It all started out when my family bought an erg and I decided I would want to try this on the actual water. Ever since I rowed in a boat, I never wanted to give it up. I like going to practice and going out on the water and becoming better each day.
I am a leader both with my teammates and classmates. I like to help people out who are struggling with a drill and or assignment. Also, helping to encourage the people around me. I am a coachable person by willing to make the changes I am told and to become a better athlete everyday. I strive to become a better rower and put one-hundred percent or more into what I do. I strive to go to the best college that I will fit into.
In my academic life, I keep up with my studies to maintain high grades. Also, in college you will not have to be a coach that will have to chase me around to see if I am attending class. I will always attend class and I will always attend practice. In school, if I do not understand something I will go to the teacher for help even if that means that I will miss a free period or something fun with my friends. I rather exceed in my grades. For school, I also help others with work in class if they do not understand something. I also volunteer for service throughout my school to help others out in the community.
My goal in college is to keep up my good work and to experience new things. I also cannot wait to join a new team that will fit me and to race with the new people that I have met. I want to be in the perfect that fits me and make my parents proud. I plan to become an even better person than I am and better rower.
