I was adopted by my parents when I was five years old, and brought to America from Kazakhstan (where I was born.) I soon realized how lucky I was to have been given a chance at a great life, and to have been given so many great opportunities to succeed as an American citizen. With that in mind, I have always felt that I should make the most of my good fortune and not waste the opportunities I have been given. That is why I believe it's important for me to study hard, work hard, and dedicate myself to my sport. My plan, and my hope, is to go to a great college, continue with my sport, and earn a degree most likely in the fields of engineering or medicine so that I can give back through my work something of what I've been given.
