2023 HighlightsPersonal Statement
After six years of playing lacrosse, I was invited to try rowing during my sophomore year. After my first day on the water, the coach asked me how I felt, and I cautiously told him, “I think I like it.” I rowed in my first regatta three days later. When the season was over, my coach told me that during that first conversation, he had silently responded in his head, “Buddy, I hate to tell you, but you love it.” His intuition was true. I love rowing and being out on the open water. I love working with a crew towards one goal. I love the idea of always aspiring towards a faster time and a cleaner row. Rowing is much more than a sport to me: it is a passion.
