Personal Statement

After a lot of consideration, I decided to switch schools from a charter school that I have attended since preschool to a district high school that offers Cambridge University curriculum.  I began this past summer conditioning with the football team as well as the baseball team at Lee Williams. I also attended a couple soccer camps. I believe by also playing Football and Baseball it gives me a diverse perspective and allows me to be a more well rounded player.  I have a focus, determination and work ethic that is unique. Although sports are my passion and specifically soccer, my main focus is on academics and maintaining strait A's.  I look forward to all opportunities to learn from players and coaches. I feel I have already grown as an athlete the first half of my freshman year playing on the JV football team due to being coachable and focused. Then on top of that I went straight to soccer where I made the Varsity team as a freshman. I have maintained straight A’s and plan on continuing to do so. Instead of playing baseball in high school this year I chose to join the first boys volleyball team. I played all around for JV as well as back row for varsity.

  • by Coach Deemer of University of San Diego Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 87 / 100 Dribbling - Quality with ball at both feet. Good in tight spaces, and makes good use of moves to beat defenders. Passing - Creates opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. Rarely over or under hits the ball. Tactical Abilities 89 / 100 Vision - Field vision is very good. Constantly checking over shoulders on and off ball allows for quick decisions. Reading The Game Does well seeing the first level of pressure and making appropriate decision on the ball. Physical Abilities - 87 / 100 Endurance - Great work rate throughout camp. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late. Strength- Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. Mental Abilities- 92 / 100 Competitiveness- Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coachable- Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Jacob had a great attitude and was a pleasure to work with at camp. Jacob brought good energy to every session. His reading of the game and work ethic stood out. His awareness on the field and technical skills help him create opportunities for teammates. As a 2027 grad, he still has time to develop physically and has the potential to become an elite player. He has a bright soccer career ahead of him. Ball Control-Having a good first touch is a must at the next level. A great first touch sets up the rest of the play and keeps your team in possession. You should be receiving thousands of balls with both your right and left foot throughout a month. Speed of thought - Knowing what you are going to do with the ball before it arrives is a huge way to get on the field in the college game. College soccer moves at such a fast pace you must always know what is around you and what you are going to do with the ball. Leadership- No matter what position you play or how much you play, being a leader sets you apart at the next level. Leading by great play, with communication, or with the way you act all will get you respected quickly. Coach's Comments Jacob had a great attitude and was a pleasure to work with at camp.
