Jesus Morales: Journey to Be Great
In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, perseverance is defined as a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. My life has been extensively difficult since I was a little kid to today. I have always been in the face of adversity, but here I am carrying on. My past has not been the best but I will make sure that I have the best future. Perseverance is a word that describes me almost perfectly, that is why if you give me the scholarship I will use it to its fullest potential and not let it go to waste, because I learned through my past to persevere.
The story of my past is a story of adversity and looking at it today I shouldn’t be the person I am today or in the position that I’m in. I grew up in a single mom home, my mom kicked my dad out when I was three because he got involved in bad things and she didn’t want us in that environment. My mother raised three children all by herself and I’m proud to say that we are all on good paths and chasing our dreams. Growing up without a father figure, being a male made it difficult for me because I didn’t really have anyone to look up to or teach me what a man is. I had to figure it out on my own and I struggled to do that. I have had many failures but, I don’t let them get to me, I turn them into learning experiences and used them to succeed. I have been playing soccer since I was eleven and there was a period where it got hard and I wanted to quit but I didn’t. There have been moments where school got hard and I wanted to quit, but I didn’t and I’m pursuing a higher education. My past was difficult but I have persevered through it and I will continue to persevere.
I am a person that likes to stay busy and does a lot of things. All throughout high school I have maintained above a 3.0 GPA and I take high-level classes. I also do things outside of academics, for example, I am in the National Honors Society, which means I also do a lot of community service. I also play club soccer with SC Del Sol which is my third soccer team. I have been playing since I was eleven. I also play high school varsity soccer. I am also in the Ace Plus program so, I am doing my first year of college during high school. I really keep myself busy, with all my school and I train four times a week with my team and three days on my own. I really have to persevere through all the things that I have to do and keep up with.
My future will also not be easy but, it will be the best because I am going to make it the best for me. I have high dreams and aspirations, I also have high expectations for myself. My goal, dream, and number one plan is to play professional soccer, after that my plan number two is to be a politician and run for president in 2036, my last plan is to get into the field of genetics and make a breakthrough in the field. I want to leave my legacy on this planet. I don’t want to be just another person that nobody remembers, I want to be great and I want my name to be remembered. To do that I hold myself to the highest expectations.
In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, ambitious is defined as having a desire to be successful, powerful, or famous or having a desire to achieve a particular goal both definitions define me. The goals I have set goals for myself are hard to achieve because they are so difficult to achieve I have to be ambitious. It also shows because of all the things I am involved in such as Ap and honors classes I also am in the ACE program where I do my first year of college in high school. Then, of course, I play club soccer at a high level. The level at which I do them, how well I do them, and how much work I put into them shows that I have that grand desire to achieve greatness.
