Personal Statement
My name is Sean Morfin. I am primarily a center back (but can also play defensive mid) and am 170 lbs and 6'1. I love playing a defensive position because I love the excitement of anticipating the game and adapting to counter the other team. It is a hard-fought challenge and it is satisfying to know that I stop goals and make our team win. For example, in the 5 games of the 2018 Arizona State Cup Tournament, we conceded only 1 goal. I have been playing soccer my whole life as my main sport, and I also played seven years of baseball, three of tennis and one year of basketball. I started taking soccer seriously around the age of 10 when I moved to my first very competitive team. I work hard in every practice, put my head down and push myself to the best of my ability. I am a very calm player and person when I am on the field, who won't yell at teammates out of anger, and am often described by coaches and friends to be "composed on the ball." Efficiency is one of my key strengths, as shown with my school work. As soon as I get home I finish all the work that I can, freeing up the rest of the day/night to do whatever I please. I would like to play soccer at a high collegiate level along with getting a great education to suit me best for my future.
