John Uhlig '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is John Uhlig, I’m 13 years old and  I live on Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada.  I am currently attending the Nanaimo District Secondary School and my GPA is 3.6. I weigh 137 lbs and my height is 5.10. My juggling record is 1833. I have been played Outside back, outside forward, centre back, centre mid, and striker but my preferred position is Defensive or attacking midfield. The team I play for is called Vancouver Island Wave which plays in the highest  possible league for my age in BC and I am also the co-captain, I have also been chosen to play in high performance programs with Team BC which is a team made up of all of the best players in my league. Ever since I first started playing in the back yard with my parents, I have always wanted to keep playing soccer and keep getting better and reaching higher levels, soccer is my passion. I have a pre-game to post-game routine that starts with what I eat and drink the day before then all the way through sleep, pre-hydration, warm up, cool down, stretching, re-nutrition and using a foam roller so I'm not sore the next day. I also regularly do yoga and use visualization to help my mind set. 

Some key aspects of my game:  I hate to lose which makes me competitive until the game ends and even if the team is losing 10-0, i will still play my hardest because i love to play. Regardless of what position I am playing, I love to go up the field, make runs, and also to score. I protect the ball well but I try to play fair. I always communicate on the field (helping to organize the team and keep everyone positive).
