Thank-you for viewing my profile. My name is Cormac Southam and I am a eight-teen year old centre-back from Nelson, BC Canada that is part of the 2014 recruiting class. Last year I graduated from highschool and captained Coastal FC U18's of the BCHPL. The BCSPL is the top leauge in British Columbia and I was on track to play Div. 1 Soccer. However, a concussion I sustained this Spring has prevented me from doing so this year. I am currently doing a half course load at my local Institution, Selkirk College, on a purely academic basis (3.9GPA).
I weigh 185Ibs and measure 6'2" in height. I have billeted away from home the last four years to play top quality soccer, making me a uniquely dedicated athlete. I hold a 3.8/4.0 highschool GPA and a 1880/2400 (1250/1600) SAT score. I am a smart player, making quick decisions and always staying two or three seconds ahead of the game. I am physically very strong, good in the air, and am able to make the game very simple.
What I look for in an institution is very simple, academic and/or athletic excellence. Location, religous preferences, and setting are not factors in my decision as I have lived in a number of different situations over the last four years.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Cormac Southam. I have enjoyed the opportunity coaching Cormac for the past two years here at Coastal F.C. in White Rock, B.C., and I am eager to see his final year with our Club.
It is difficult to put into words the positive impact that Cormac has had on our program. His enthusiasm, loyalty, diligence, and sheer soccer abilities have helped our program compete at the highest Youth level here in British Columbia. His decision and his commitment to move from Nelson B.C. to White Rock to play at the highest level is an indication of his desire to be successful. Cormac is a natural born leader who allows his soccer knowledge and commitment to do his talking on the field in both training and games. I have had few players who show up every day to training with Cormac’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills and also polish his existing skills. He senses the moments to rise to occasions, to his credit, is just as happy having the game-winning assists or keeping the ball out of our own third.
A great example of his loyalty and sense of team was showcased when he was appointed the Captain of the team at the start of the current season. He was injured after the first game, but has never missed training or a game, takes the leadership role very seriously and has been a tower of strength for the team from the sideline. Cormac is one of those players who is always willing to perform for the team, whatever it takes to assist his teammates, never one to worry about personal goals or achievements. In my opinion this captures Cormac’s value to any team of which he is a member. Not only will he defend and make assists, and play very superior soccer, but he will strengthen the character of the team by modeling pride and self-respect that any teammate, older or younger, will be wise to copy.
Cormac is an excellent soccer player, he is very athletic, very good at positioning himself defensively or offensively and his best position would be as an outside defender or one of the two central defenders. Cormac loves to challenge in the crowd, excellent in the air, great defender, all in all a complete player for the next level of play. I have seen him grow as a person as well as a soccer player over the past two years, and I am very excited for his future in the game and with his education.
In conclusion, all of my experiences with Cormac have been positive; he is an excellent soccer player as well as a fine individual and student athlete. I would recommend him to any fine College/University and Soccer program, without any hesitation.
