Personal Statement

I am a senior, class of 2019, at Fountain Valley High School in Southern California. My GPA is 3.0 and I am looking forward to moving on to college. Fountain Valley High has a student population of 3,558 and is ranked 83rd out of 1,510 public high schools in California and has an A+ rating for college prep. 

On the pitch, I am the starting varsity goalkeeper for Fountain Valley HS and I play club soccer for The Orange County Surf in the Discovery League coached by Neil Armour. The OC Surf formerly West Coast is one of the top teams in California. I work hard on and off the field. In addition to club and high school practices, I train at Champions Quest, the premier college bound youth, strength and conditioning facility in Southern California. ( http://www.championsquest.com/ ) I recently received the 2018 “Ryan Bishel Commitment Award” this award is given annually to the top athlete at the academy.

To sharpen my goalkeeping skills I attend goalkeeper training during the week and on the weekends with Impact Goalkeeper Academy and Daniel Gonzales(former professional keeper and trainer for the MLS LA Galaxy), https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2012/04/12/chivas-keeper-coach-man-behind-kennedys-rise as well as Ryan Brown, (the current starting goalkeeper for Hope University). http://www.hiuroyals.com/roster/16/3/2605.php  I have also trained with ), Didier Muñoz,  (Head keeper coach, Panamanian Men's national team) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrICYJWCFwI I am 6’ 1” and weigh 180 lbs. I have an approach vertical jump of 31.5”. I have a very aggressive style of play and enjoy working with my defense to build attacks from the goal. Good diving technique with hands and body forward, good agility to slide and cover ground in the goal. Very good work ethic and leadership skills. Great communication and organization of his defense the entire time with a loud and clear voice. Great positioning and in ready stance during danger situations which allows for good reflex saves. Quick off of his line to gobble up loose touches and passes. Overall a very confident and imposing keeper. Long distance distribution, that driven ball, can be improved.
