Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Joel Sanchez. Born to two Mexican parents, I have always had the luxury of having soccer around me during my childhood. I certainly would like to pursue my goal of playing college soccer. To go even further, I would like to go pro and achieve that childhood dream of playing professional soccer in order to help build a stable future for my family. Coming from a city filled with violence and crime, it is extremely important for me to have a successful college career in order to support my family the most that I can. From a soccer standpoint, I without a doubt put the team before myself and would like to grow ever-lasting bonds with my future teammates. I have always been taught that family is the most important thing in life. I always consider my team my family and treat them like family. I call myself a leader on the pitch and would love to prove it in a college soccer environment. I always feel there is room for improvement and would love to learn from the best coaches and teachers in college. As a central defensive midfielder, I acknowledge my role for the team as my job is not to score goals. I sacrifice the luxury of scoring goals and going forward in order to do my job and balance the midfield while allowing my team to have an outlet from the defense to the offense. As I always put my best on the soccer pitch, I always make sure to put my best in the classroom as well. I value my studies as much as I value soccer. I would love to continue my studies and major in a field that will allow me to have a career in the future.
