Anthony Jimenez '20 Recruiting Profile

          My name is Anthony Jimenez I currently play soccer at San Marcos High School / Coastal Valley Soccer Club  ( grad. year 2020 ).  My main position is striker but I'm a versatile player having played in many positions. I began playing soccer at the age of 4, but even then I have been kicking around the ball long before I can remember. Due to my family loving the sport and for my passion, they pushed me at a young age to compete in competitive tournaments and leagues around the the whole region of California at age of 8. I have always loved this sport but I took this extremely seriously when I was in 6th grade, that's when I knew I wanted to play at a collegiate level and play professional soccer for my country and around the world.  Since then, I have not stopped. I have dedicated tons of hours on the field and in the gym with the same mindset, always working hard to improve and to never settle for average because I do not consider myself an average player, I'm beyond that. 

         I was invited to play at various clubs around the city starting at age 11 and I'm going to be honest, I was confident but also nervous. I knew this was an opportunity to play at the next level to continue to grow and excel as a player, as a person to get out of my comfort zone. By the age of 12, I decided to play with Coastal Valley Soccer Club.  I currently play at Coastal Valley Soccer Club as a striker and as the team captain. This honorable role was earned with hard work and dedication. In addition to being a leader in my club and high school teams, I have also earned several awards. I was awarded the 2015-16 Coastal Valley Soccer Club Top-Scorer, 2016-17 All-Channel League Top-Scorer, 2017-18 Ventura United Cup Champions and also named MVP of the tournament. In 2017-18 I was awarded as Coast Soccer League Division Top-Scorer.

         I have been playing with Coastal Valley Soccer Club for the past 3 years and as team captain for the past 2 years. As much as I work hard and dedicate time on the field, I also put the same energy and dedication to my academics. I am a passionate athlete that loves the sport and I enjoy working and leading my team always giving it my all each day.  My goal is to be at a program where I can showcase my leadership skills on the field and inside the classroom to be a successful individual. My goal is to also get called up for the US National Team and represent my country and play professional soccer.
