Marco Rodriguez '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Marco Rodriguez, I play as a defensive midfielder for the Lamorinda SC 03/04 MLS Next team.  I aspire to play soccer at the next level while advancing my education as well. I have been playing soccer since I could walk and have developed a great passion for the beautiful game not only playing but watching, and coaching. On and off the field I create relationships with my teammates and coaches in order to create a healthy playing environment. I take pride in my work ethic and ability to increase the energy levels of my teammates through leadership and example. My size and athleticism allow me to be physical to protect the ball and win it back in transition. I have great vision and make quality decisions when passing by looking into spaces that other players may not see. My ability to keep the ball by circulating while also finding penetrating passes at the right time makes it difficult for opposing teams to defend. Under pressure, I am confident in my ability to control the ball in tight spaces and turn into space to create passing lanes further up the field.
