Personal Statement
I am very fortunate to have played soccer since I was 5 years old. In my experience, Soccer has played a valuable part in learning about camaraderie and interpersonal skills. Alongside my role as captain it has also helped me develop leadership skills. All these skills I have learned through sports, academics, and social activities have inspired me to pursue a career in Business. I have a keen enthusiasm to pursue a degree in Business Administration/Management as I enjoy the challenges it presents, and the many different areas of business one can branch out into. I strongly believe I am a great candidate for college soccer as over the years I have had the experience of playing in a wide variety of different positions on the field. This has helped me develop an advanced insight into the flow of the game. I have the skill, power, speed, communication, leadership and of course, composure, to play all positions while primarily playing midfielder. My sportsmanship and versatility as a player has proven to be an asset to my soccer club and my varsity team. I believe this versatility could be an asset in a college soccer team as well.
Through my dedication to my team and personal development, my progress has not gone unnoticed. In November of 2018 I was invited to play with a team that was qualifying to attend an international friendlies/ tournament in Portugal. The last qualifying game of the tournament was a difficult battle as the score was still at 0-0 in the 85th minute. Fortunately, it was in my role as the right mid fielder that I was able to take on the defender 1v1 and hit a bi-line to my teammate to score the winning goal. This secured our spot in the tournament, and a trip to Portugal.
Over the last year I have been disciplined and motivated to improve my grades, which I have accomplished. My dedication toward self-development is not just on the pitch but now also practiced in the classroom. The passing of my grandmother, whom I was extremely close to, presented me with setbacks athletically and scholastically. Her passing has been a strong influence in my decision to attend college. It was difficult for me to manage my strong emotions. Attending my grandmother’s funeral helped me obtain closure, and I intend on living every day to make her proud.
College has been a lifelong dream for me inspired by a strong female role model in my life. Through all the adversity, I have grown immensely. I am more motivated than ever in accomplishing my collegiate dreams.
