My name is Ben Kessler and I love soccer. I have played soccer since I was four years old (rec to competitive). Sophomore year I made Varsity and started in about half of our matches. I was All-League Goalkeeper and the Defensive team MVP for my high school team last year (2017/18) and am the starting keeper this year. I have played competitive club soccer for six years for Union Sacramento. I train with a professional USL goalkeeper coach outside of club and school. I believe I am a very hard worker, with fast reflexes. I push myself to work my hardest. I make an effort to be the first to the field and the last off. You can usually catch me carrying equipment and talking to my coaches before and after practice. My favorite experience so far was seeing Manchester United's derby with Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Off the field, I strive to work as hard at school as I do at soccer. I have a 3.9 GPA (3.7 GPA UC/CSU) and am in the most challenging courses at Christian Brothers. I am very interested in math, science, and history and am looking at majoring in physics. I will have completed six AP courses by graduation spring 2019.
My family is also very important to me. I have two loving parents and an older brother who have inspired me to maintain high standards across all areas of my life. Community service includes volunteering and raising over $6,000 for the Sacramento Food Bank. I also worked at Play-Well Lego Engineering Camps the past two summers.
