Ted Merrifield '19 Recruiting Profile

The Syracuse Lacrosse motto "Head, Heart, Hussle" is a motto that I beleive every player should be aware of. Whether it is in the classroom or on the field, smart thinking, passion, and an 100% work rate is vital to a players success. Academics has always has been a top priority for me. I take accelerated and honors classes for the challenge and fun of learning new things. I have always seen my self as a participant in the classroom, not just an observer. This is applied to anything I do, including soccer. On the field, I have always been a multi-sport athlete and I see this as a big part of character growth, as well as conditioning and in-game experience. Soccer has always been my top priority and is slowly becoming my sole focus. In the summer, I am an Assistant Leader at America's oldest boys camp, Camp Dudley. Camp Dudley's mission is "To develop moral, personal, physical and leadership skills in the spirit of fellowship and fun, enabling boys and girls to lead lives characterized by devotion to others." Camp Dudley has been an important part of who I am. This past summer, I was a counselor at Dudley and it allowed me to give back by coaching 12 year-olds in several sports and cabin life. Camp Dudley has taught me how to be a leader in everything I do.
