Leaving my friends who I grew up with after my freshman year & deciding to transfer to another high school was a desicion that altered my life. I’ve alway have struggled academically. At the end of 7th grade I was officially diagnosed with dyslexia. I knew that for me to succeed I needed to attend a smaller school with more support. I’ve played soccer since I was 6 and at JSerra I was given a chance to play and develop my skills. Soccer became an outlet for me so I could stay focused on my studies. Soccer has helped me feel more connected to my school & has aloud me to build relationships with my team mates. I found leadership skills both on & off the field. From being captain for my JV team to being a mentor to other new & transfer students. I am looking forward attending college something I once never thought I would be able to obtain. However, being at JSerra I was able to learn better techniques & strategies that helped me academically. One thing I know about myself is that I’m dedicated, determined & resourceful.
