Personal Statement
Soccer is a major part of my life. I have loved the game since the first time I touched a ball thirteen years ago. I was born into a soccer loving family, so I was always around the game. My sister is a huge influence in my life. She started playing soccer at the same age as I did, and all through her high school career. She encouraged me to try my hardest and to never give up. The most important lesson that she had ever taught me was, "even if you don't want to do something, doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it. If could help you in the future, if you gave it a chance." Throughout my career, I learned what all I am capable of mentally and physically. One example is being the captain of my high school soccer team. Being in a leadership position taught me that the leaders never receive all of the credit for victories. If your team looses, then it is on the captain. On the contrary, if the team succeeds, then the captain doesn't receive the credit. The captain has to be okay with that. I had to learn that if the team was happy, I was happy.
My goals for college are being able to maintain above a 3.5 GPA, as well as develop a strong base for my future career. I also need to continue to have a solid work ethic and investigate new opportunities for myself. When it comes to sports and academics, I am very assertive and won't stop at anything to get what I need to explore new activities. Not only will I work hard to better myself, I will work hard to help better the team and the program.
