Belonging to a JV team with two losing seasons in a row can be a big blow to the whole team’s confidence wether it’s Varsity or JV. But taking the off-season as an opportunity to prepare mentally and physically, choosing to become a leader for the team, and changing your mentality and perspective we were bound to see results, on the pitch and in the classroom as well. And my Junior year, we finally did. We never gave up, I had been captain for my Sophomore year so I took that responsibility to help lead our team to the best season we’ve had since I was a freshmen, even going undefeated for a while. (Record: 9W-2D-3L)

But there was always this chip on my shoulder of not being able to take my ability into Varsity. So I worked, pushed, and performed and I finally had my chance. The final game of the regular season I played as a sub and got just 3 min. of play time. The Varsity team hadn’t qualified for playoffs, we had nothing to lose. But those 3 min. meant so much that it influenced me to keep striving. I’m aking this new mentality and giving it my all for my final season, and taking it further into my post-High school career.
