Sports have always been a big part of my life. My parents were both college athletes, so growing up my brother and I were encouraged to try a lot of different activities. While baseball was my chosen sport as a younger kid, by middle school, I began to settle on soccer. From the start, I was drawn to play goalkeeper. It looked like fun, and made the most sense to me because I could draw on my background in baseball and my developed hand-eye coordination.
Now, at 17, I know that soccer is what I want to continue to do past high school and into college. I love the feeling of responsibility that comes from playing goalkeeper. I love the feeling I get when I make a good save, and I especially like knowing that my teammates can put their trust in me. I try to give my all each and every session, whether it's practice, a game, or even just kicking the ball around with my brother or my friends. And when I get knocked down, I will always try to be the best keeper I can be, and learn from my mistakes.
