- 2021 Highlights #2
Personal Statement
Throughout my entire life, I have been extremely dedicated to soccer and to strengthening my academic capabilities. I have played soccer since I was eight and have worked hard to advance my skills, whether through camps, clinics, or individual training. I was able to participate in Manchester City's academy camps for two summers. I currently am a starting center back and captain for my high school team, Lakewood HS. After a challenging 2020-2021 school year, we won our district championship for the first time in over 25 years, and my coach recognized me with the Coach's Award for outstanding play and leadership. I was also named to our district's academic first team.
In club soccer, I have been the starting center back for over three years for Real Colorado Edge Select 04. In 2021, we topped multiple ECNL teams to place 2nd in the Colorado State Cup and ranked #1 in the state overall in our last season in November 2020. Having competed at an extremely high level for many years, I believe I have what it takes to compete at a college level among other great players.
While soccer is a significant part of my life, academics and extracurricular interests play a major role in who I am as a person. I have a 4.5 GPA and am pursuing my IB diploma. I have also been awarded the recognition of being outstanding in school and received Lakewood High Schools' reward of High Honors for the 2019-20 and 2020-2021 school years. Outside of school, I am extremely passionate about leading and spreading my ideas through actions. In 2017, I was selected to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp, a life-changing experience that provided me with insights on effective leadership. I believe that what makes a good soccer player is more complicated than only having good technical skills. A good soccer player needs to be coachable, know how to communicate, and most importantly, know how to lead others in a positive manner.
