Personal Statement
I just finished up my senior season at Hall High School, in West Hartford, CT. I was a team captain and started every game at center back My team finished 18-1-2 and won the CIAC LL State tournament for the first time since 1980. We made the Class LL finals for the first time in 25 years. We finished as the #1 ranked team in the state. I was voted to be one of the captains for my senior year by the players and coaches. As a junior, I started every game at right back and we made the state finals, finishing with a record of 18-2-1.
I would describe myself as an "attacking possession player". I don't give away the ball, but also know how to time my runs. I am a great team player, work hard and lead by example and can play every field position. One of my strengths is I am a versatile player. I played mostly forward and midfield when I was younger. More recently I have moved to a defensive role for my both my club team, FSA, and my high school team. In high school, I started every game at midfield as a sophomore and right back as a junior. Next year, I will likely be playing center back. I believe my strengths are: field vision, first touch, making runs off the ball and accurate passing.
I have always dreamed of playing soccer in college. I have played competitive soccer since I was 7 years old. I love the game.
I am looking for a school that combines a great academic environment with a great soccer program. I am interested in many subjects and am very strong in Chinese, Math, English and History. I would like to stay involved with sports in some way when I graduate from college.
