Juan Bahena '19 Recruiting Profile

Since I can remember, I could be found kicking a soccer ball. Being a goalie has helped me grow as a person, I have learned how to work as a team and how to communicate well with others. The sport I love has made me a committed, dedicated and very determined individual. I use the competitiveness I gained from soccer in my class room environments. I’ve maintained GPA of 3.96 to date in my high school career.

At 14 years old I was asked to play for U18 for Kirkwood travel soccer, I’ve become fond of any challenge no matter how daunting it may be. Playing with grown men, as a kid, showed me how to be tough, brave and aware. I wasn’t the largest keeper at 14, but I found that if I anticipated and helped guide my defenders to the correct positions, we could mitigate most incoming threats. I’ve had the honor to being named Captain of my varsity team for the last two years. Being captain has shown me that through leadership, we can overcome any situation, no matter how adverse.

I really enjoy being part of a team and understand that it is not just about me as an individual, but about all of us on the team. Every time I step on the field, I have a responsibility to my teammates, my coaches and myself to be the best goalkeeper I can be. Overall, I’m looking forward to hearing from you in the near future.
