Personal Statement
My name is Jair Obando from Miami, entering my junior year in high school. I started playing at the young age of 3 and a half and have played soccer most of my life. I currently play in Prime FC 2006 ECNL team and was part of the Olympic Development Program's Florida State Team, making it to the Region camp in Alabama. I was also blessed to have been invited to play with Club Sporting Cristal, one of the best professional teams in Lima Peru in 2019(equivalent to MLS/DA). Furthermore, I have also been invited to play in Germany with Soccer Global Development to play against Hertha Berlin and Union FC, both clubs from Bundesliga 1.
Miami soccer has become highly competitive and playing in the top team for my age locally requires commitment, hard work and be loyal to the game, coaches, team and myself in order to be relevant and successful.
I am an experienced midfielder with a scorer's attacking mentality with either foot. While my main position is attacking midfielder, I am very versatile and can play defensive, right or left midfielder with excellent field vision.
I saw my dream in danger when I got injured in the summer of 2020. Having to use crutches for a while, a boot, and pain, my family and coaches taught me not to give up. It took a lot of work and patience. But with the help of my family, I was able to recover.
This episode in my life has taught me never to give up, perseverance, be patient, and mentally strong to overcome obstacles in life. This is what soccer has taught me among other things. Such as discipline, time management, and hard work..
I work equally hard to maintain a GPA of 4.2. Academics are as important to me as soccer and I am part of the National Junior Honors Society.
I am looking to play at the highest college division possible with aspirations of a professional career within soccer and/or industry. I hope you have time to learn more about me by contacting us me at [email protected]
