My father first introduced me to soccer when I was 3 years old, and I have loved it ever since. I have been playing since an early age, being fortunate to be an 8-year starter on one of the top club teams in north Florida. However, my soccer journey has not been an easy one. I suffer from pectus excavatum, which is a chest deformity where my sternum sinks into my chest. With this diagnosis, it would have been easy to quit sports altogether, but soccer was my passion. I focused myself into my faith and into my training, allowing me to continue to follow my passion of soccer at a high level, in addition to lettering in two other sports: tennis and cross-country.
I am fortunate to be a part of a fantastic soccer program. Thus far, through my soccer journey, I have learned the values of discipline, commitment, teamwork, leadership, and sacrifice. I have many goals as I transition to college, and I feel these values coupled with my faith will allow me to achieve them. Academically, I will focus in pre-med in my undergraduate studies, and then on to study medicine in graduate school. My goal is to become a pediatric surgeon, specializing in chest wall deformities so that I can help others overcome the same challenges I have faced. Athletically, I believe that I have the talent, “soccer IQ”, work ethic, discipline, and leadership skills to continuing playing soccer in college. It is these attributes on and off the field that I feel will allow me to be a contributing player in college, and I pray for that opportunity.
