Personal Statement
I am confident that I have the maturity, soccer IQ and technical and physical skills necessary to play soccer at the collegiate level and beyond. I began playing soccer at the age of 5 and fell in love with the game early on. While my current position is as an outside back, I have successfully played as a striker, midfielder and center back. Playing in multiple positions has not only taught me invaluable lessons about soccer and helped me develop my skills, but playing different positions has also helped me to develop resiliency, perseverance, confidence and leadership.
When I was 12 years old, I switched soccer clubs and was not placed on the top team. While this was a heartbreaking experience, I chose to work even harder and became even more dedicated to developing as a soccer player. I began to really study the game and became an invaluable player on my team as someone who could play as a defender, midfielder or attacker. I also began working with a personal trainer to enhance my fitness level and strength. I continue to work with personal trainers during and off-season to this day.
Rather than to allow my disappointment of not being on the top team crush me as it had done to others, I chose to persevere and use the disappointment to fuel my determination and inner drive. Two years later, I was highly sought after to play on several U14 development academy teams. I have continued to play at the highest youth level and on highly competitive teams since that experience. In 2018, I was the starting left back for the #1 team in the country as ranked by Top Drawer Soccer. I am proud of the trophies and championships that I have won with my teams, but I am most proud of the work ethic and leadership skills that I have developed as a result of playing the game I love so much.
I now play for Concorde Fire U18/19 DA
