Personal Statement
I began playing sports at the age of five and immediately fell in love with soccer above all others. Throughout my entire soccer career, each of my coaches has viewed me as a leader and I have served as the captain of most of my teams. Whether on the field while leading or trailing or off the field with the team, I see it as my responsibility to be a leader and help better the character of each teammate and the team as a whole.
Soccer hasn’t always come easy for me since I have unfortunately suffered from a few injuries (mainly due to my fast growth) despite the strength training, dietary discipline, and stretching I have done to keep healthy. These injuries have tested my character and have taught me how to deal with adversity with courage and determination. They have also taught me not to take the sport for granted. I go into each training session with the mentality that I’m going to better myself and my teammates and not waste one rep, touch, or tackle.
I'm motivated to find a university with strong academics and a competitive soccer program where I can continue to lead while developing to be a stronger soccer player, person, and contributor to society.
