Personal Statement
I spent the first half of my childhood attending a Christian based school. I think this allowed me to understand the importance of boundaries, rules and discipline. Making the shift to public school my 9th grade year was a huge adjustment for me socially and personally. I felt it allowed me to better understand and express who Joshua really is. I'm looking forward to exploring that more during the next phase of my life as I experience what a college has to offer.
I was diagnosed with narcolepsy early on in my childhood. This diagnosis had the ability to hinder and handicap me. With the help and support of my family I did not allow that to happen. I embraced my condition and learned how to achieve in spite of it. I approach soccer in a similar fashion as my condition. I may not be the best dribbler on the team but I do work hard and and I appreciate and take advantage of any opportunity to excel in spite of. Soccer is my passion. I have played this game since the age of 4. In most social settings, I'm typically the quiet one. The soccer field is the one place that allows me to be aggressive and strong and vibrant.
My goal is to enroll in a school that will look upon me in spite of any short comings and appreciate the drive and passion and the fact that I excel in spite of.
