Hello, my name is Julius Garricks. I am currently a junior at Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, Georgia. I was born in Savannah-la-mar, Jamaica. My mom passed away when I was five years old. I came to the U.S. on February 17, 2017 but I started at Chapel Hill Middle School right after the winter break. I missed the tryouts. I was very eager to play so I had a lot of individual sessions right in my front yard. During the summer (before freshman year) of 2017 I went to a soccer camp. Based off what I heard I did great! Freshman year I started at Chapel Hill High School. I made the varsity team but I chose to play on the Junior Varsity team also so I would get more playing time. According to my coach, I was one of the best students that tried out for the team. Everything was so different from soccer in Jamaica. After my high school soccer career is over, I'm looking forward to playing college soccer. I am hoping to obtain an athletic scholarship. What I hope to achieve by obtaining a college degree is a career in film and media arts. I also have a passion for automotive engineering. While obtaining my degree I hope to become an asset on a college soccer team. I am a good candidate due to my ability to play any position on offense or defense. I am a technical player when it comes to dribbling, setting up plays and working towards getting my team a goal. I’m different from other recruits because of my passion for the game. I LOVE SOCCER!!! I am also an unselfish player. I have a way of finding opportunities on the field and capitalizing on them. Being able to recognize when an opportunity exists makes me stand out from other players. Being self-driven has also made me stand out from other athletes. I NEVER need to be reminded to work on my craft. I have also NEVER missed a practice. My academic work speaks for itself. When I was younger, I did not try as hard with my classes, but now, I try to make nothing less than a "B" in any of my classes. Whenever I have a project that I am working on, I make sure it is unique and personable. Being able to stand out academically is also important to me. My plan is to find opportunities to play professional soccer post-collegiate.
Thank you,
Julius Garricks
