Personal Statement
My name is Jonah Hatcher and I started playing soccer at the age of seven. My love and passion for the game began the first year I started playing. I love that the game is so physically demanding and I also enjoy the competitive nature of the game itself. Soccer for me has always been something that I can go to no matter what is going on in my life. Every time I step on the pitch everything just seems to fade away and it’s just me, my teammates, my coaches and the ball. I can forget about all my worries when I’m between the lines. I currently play for Harlem High School in Harlem, Georgia. I’ve played for Harlem since my freshman year where I’ve been a starting forward and midfielder for a very successful program. I was named first team all-Region my sophomore and junior seasons. I also had the privilege of playing in the 2018 Georgia Diversity High School All Star game after my Junior year. Some of the successes that I’m most proud of is my team having an undefeated regular season my sophomore year and playing into the state AA quarterfinals after a second Region championship my junior year. Soccer has always been a high priority in my life and my passion for the game is second to none. I’m always excited about leading my team while on the field and making sure that my passion and desire is an example for my teammates to follow. My coaches have always told me that my speed and field vision are my number one skill sets, but most of all they appreciate my leadership abilities on the field. I always welcome the leadership role on my teams and the great responsibility of that role. As passionate as I am for the game my education has always come first. I’ve always made sure that as much as I want to be successful on the field that it doesn't interfere with my hard work in the classroom. I believe that a good balance between the classroom and the field is the formula for success in the future. Some of my other interests are hanging out with friends and enjoying time with family. I spend a lot of time hanging out at local restaurants or going to the movies and even going to the field to kick the soccer ball.
