Personal Statement
This has been a difficult year for many, my family included. While moving through these times has been challenging and full of obstacles, I discovered that the things that have always made me 'different' were in fact "normal" for my life and prepared me for this time of uncertainty and isolation. I have lived overseas (Italy, Guam, Australia) for a significant part of my life and as a result have played soccer in different places, with different people, under different circumstances. As my mom has practiced medicine nationally and internationally, I have been able to see life in different places from different perspectives. I have had to move when a change of duty station dictated and adjust to new places people and culture and figuring out new normals. I have been fortunate. The opportunity to train and play in Serbia, against established European teams was fantastic as was the opportunity to experience a different area and culture. My non soccer interests are varied have included playing guitar and singing in a band, writing short stories, anime, being an avid reader and traveling extensively. I have not completely settled on a major yet as I have many interests but I feel most comfortable with the idea of pursing a degree in English/History. My goal is to combine my interest in those areas and my love of soccer and to continue my life of travel and learning through college and beyond. I am looking forward to moving towards those goals.
