Personal Statement
I was born in Switzerland in 2003 and lived in Europe until 2017 when we moved to New York City. In 2013, my family moved to Poland for four years and I learned my soccer fundamentals in Warsaw where I trained within the club system of Borussia Dortmond and travelled in Poland and Germany playing junior tournaments. After moving to New York City, I had enjoyed two years on the varsity soccer team at my high school and had just finished my first season as the captain of my club team when COVID-19 struck. I was afraid to lose two crucial years in my soccer development and have made the choice, supported by my parents, to attend the International Center for European Football (ICEF) in Evian, France where since August of 2020, I study on-line in the morning and train every afternoon with 30 high-calibre athletes and a professional coaching staff at the Center.
ICEF shares a facility with the Thônon Evian Grand Geneve football club (TEGG) which plays in the N2 French league. Since January 2021 when the season re-opened post-COVID-19, I was issued my FIFA license. Since then I have played with the club U20 team, served as Captain for the ICEF team, and now regularly with the first team of the club (National 2 French league) and the reserves (Regional 3 French league). I miss NYC and my friends and family, but have benefitted in building skill and fitness, accessing professional level coaching, facilities and technology, and reinforcing my fluency in French and Italian. I would look forward to bringing these soccer skills, leadership capabilities, language proficiency and strong academic record to a college that would be a good fit for me.
