Greetings Coaches,
I'm Kai Van Rijsbergen, a soccer enthusiast from a multicultural background. Currently, I'm at FC Koln's Bundesliga International Talent Academy, balancing soccer with online classes. My achievements include being a key player at Kalani High School, winning titles with HSC Bulls Academy, and participating in prestigious events like USYS ODP, USYS Regionals, USCS Nationals, FIFA Las Vegas Showcase and so forth. I've also coached and refereed youth games and volunteered at Pacific Rim Cup, President’s Day Cup and many local soccer events.
My goal is to continue my soccer journey in university or professionally, upholding values of respect and integrity. Looking forward to what lies ahead throughout my collegiate journey and beyond.

- ActivitiesDear Coaches, My name is Kai Van Rijsbergen, class of 2024 (born 2006). I currently have a 4.143 GPA (cumulative 3.884), and soccer has been my life since I was little. I grew up in a mixed-culture family with a Japanese mother and a Dutch American father, so I'm naturally bilingual. I’m thrilled to announce that I received an offer for a spot on the Germany Professional Soccer Team, FC Koln (Cologne), at the Bundesliga International Talent Academy. I will be attending the program from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024 and spending my senior year in Germany while taking online classes until my high school graduation. I’m sure this will be a great opportunity for me to play at a higher level at competitive levels to not only advance my talent but also to grow to be a better human being. I’m a 6'3"-foot starter holding midfielder at Kalani High School Varsity Soccer Team Division I in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since I'm left-footed, I’ve been given the opportunity for corner kicks, which triggered a few goals during this season. Our team made the final at the OIA Tournament and the semifinal at the HHSAA State Tournament in 2023. I have collected honorable accolades from the Hawaii Division I "All-State 2023" as well as the "All OIA Division I Selection 2023". I’m currently a starter midfielder on the HSC Bulls Academy 05 boys team. On the soccer pitch, I primarily play midfield, specifically the CDM. However, I also play centerback and forward positions as well.Our team won the USCS Major Island Soccer Organization Juniors U-19 Gold Division in Fall 2022, and our team traveled to the USCS National Cup Championships 2023 in Denver, Colorado. I have been selected to the Travel Team for Surf Cup for the Super White Division, and I will be playing with Rush 06, Super Black Division, as a guest player for Surf Cup this year 2023 since my team Bulls 04/05 is not attending. I have been playing for the Bulls in Division 1 since the fall of 2022. I have also played with the adult men's DI team, Hawaii International FC, since 2018. I also had the opportunity to be on the USYS ODP Hawaii State 06' Boys Team in 2018–2023, traveled to regional tournaments, and was invited to the Regional ID Camps. I was invited to play at the Barcelona National Tournament in Toronto, Canada, in 2018. I was awarded as an MVP at the Japanese team Nankatsu Hawaii FC 05 Boys team in 2018 as well as the Hawaii 808 FC 06 Boys team in 2012. I was also awarded the most goals in the MISO leagues in 2014. I was also selected as the MVP at scrimmages in Boise, Idaho, when my previous team, Slammers FC 06’ Boy, traveled to the USYS Regional Tournament when my team won both the USYS and USCS State Cup Championships in 2019. I attended EXACT West SoCal ID Camp in 2022 and 2023 and made “All Star Player” as well as Exact 11 and was invited to pray in Spain and England in 2024. I have also been refereeing youth soccer games as well as coaching small children at Keiki Bulls as an assistant coach, and those experiences have taught me a lot to grow to be a better player.
