I became interested in soccer ever since I was 5, and only found out that I wanted to play this sport for the rest of my life till I was around 10. That was my first year of joining a club team, it was also the first time I traveled to a different state to play in a tournament for more competitive teams. This tournament allowed me to learn more about the game as well as what I needed to improve on.
My sophomore year had to be one of my most influential years for me, as a player, and as a person. That was my last year of playing High School soccer with my brother. Getting knocked out of the first round of playoffs, and ending our season early was a huge let down, it changed my characteristics as a player on the field. After that game I became a lot more vocal, and a leader on the field, from following what my brother had showed me in our last game together. My brother has been a huge inspiration to me on and off the field, his leadership, and being good hearted stuck out most and reflected onto me.
My Junior year was my first year of High School playing soccer without my brother, and I took over his position as a captain of the team, we preformed well and placed 4th in Division 1 for the East Division of OIA. I scored 7 goals and 7 assists this season, also I was my school's top scorer.
A huge obstacle I had to overcome the season was to inspire others the way my brother inspired me and the team last year. This was one of my struggles because it is something I haven't done and since this my brother is not here anymore, and has been inspiring others on the field, I had to somehow inspire my teammates like how he did to have them play at their potential. I successfully overcame this obstacle, only till our later games, and if I were to overcome that goal earlier, I believe we could've placed 3rd close to 2nd. A unique characteristic I posses is I never give up on any game, an example of this is we were down 2-0 at half, and we came back and drew 2-2 in the second half. I feel a unique skill of mine is I have very good vision of the field, and also position myself well on the field.
