I am a driven student athlete. Like many players I have grown up with a soccer ball at my feet but it was not until the last two years that I became more comfortable leading my friends and team mates. My experience in high school has been exciting and rewarding and has given me the opportunity to step into a leadership role despite being one of the youngest on my team. As I stepped into the role of starting keeper I was unsure how the team would respond however right away we developed mutual respect and commitment to one another. The coach encouraged me to lead our team on the field and off. Becoming a leader has had it's share of growing pains but I am up to the challenge. Learning to lose and win with grace, bonding with students on and off the field (from all different walks of life) and learning daily from my coaches and teammates has been an amazing experience. My biggest fan, my grandmother, was diagnosed with Alzheimers two years ago and it has been incredibly difficult to watch her slip away, but somehow she still knows that I play soccer and is proud to hear the score of every game. I strive to bring a positivity to our team (modeled for me by my grandmother) and encourage others and myself to strive for our best.
