Personal Statement
Throughout my many years of playing soccer, I have tended to be critical of myself and my abilities when I play. During the last few years under the guidance of some influential coaches, I have learned to have a healthier perspective on myself and my abilities when I play. I learned to focus on the things I do well within a training session or game and to more realistically address my deficiencies and set goals to work on them and build them into strengths. I have applied this tactic to every single game and training I take part in. I have slowly changed my character and how I view myself on and off the field while working on this tactic. Instead of constantly doubting my abilities, I learned to be proud of the skills I was and have been developing and the player I was and am becoming. This process has led to me to becoming more confident in my abilities and allowed for more success to follow suit on and off the soccer field. I will be a good candidate for a collegiate program because I will diligently work to continue to employ these tactics in the classroom as well as on the soccer field.
