Personal Statement

I am looking forward to my college experience and want to find the right school for me.  I am a very hard worker both on and off the field and in the classroom.  I don’t quit or dwell on my mistakes, rather I self correct and move forward.  I have also learned to persevere through adversity, whether it's mental, emotional or physical.  I am a fundamentally sound and balanced player, having honed my skills through repetition and perseverance.  I have very good vision on the field and distribute the ball very well in the midfield.  I am a leader on both my club and high school teams and am always helping my teammates to become not only better players, but people.  In school I maintain a 3.91 cumulative GPA and always strive to do my very best in the classroom.  I would like to attend a college/university where I can challenge myself both academically and athletically.  My parents are my role models and I strive to live up to the examples and expectations that they have set for me as well as expectations that I have set for myself.  My father played both collegiate and professional soccer and basketball (Sweden & Belgium) and my dream and goal is to do the same in soccer.

I am constantly striving to become a better player.  This includes working out at the gym with my personal trainer 3-4 days a weeks (lifting & speed/agility workouts) that are tailored to soccer as well as daily individual training drills to sustain and improve my skill level with the ball.  I have also been working with a friend of mine who is a recent former college soccer player in Idaho for the last 7 months.  The skills that I have learned from him have helped improve my game 100 fold and given me the confidence that I feel I need to play at the next level. I am also very versatile on the pitch, having the ability to play multiple positions (mid-fielder, center-back, forward) in any given situation that will help my team to be successful. I believe that doing this has helped me to become a better all around player .

I have high moral character and take responsibility for things that I do.  I also have a very strong work ethic and won't quit until I have mastered that which I have started. My father, who was a former college basketball coach and current high school basketball coach has taught me six (6) very important things that I strive to live by:

  1. If it were easy,  anyone could do it.
  2. If you don't do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over.
  3. There is no substitute for hard work.
  4. Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
  5. Character counts. Have it. Don't become one.
  6. No use sitting on the bench if you're not ready to play!

I am ready to take my game to the next level and am looking for a school and coach who will challenge me academically and push me physically to become the best player that I can be!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
