Hi my name is Manuel Rodriguez; I am a 2020 graduate and play center midfield for De La Salle Institute and for the Chicago Blast Soccer Club. I am 5’8 and I am a 2 year varsity player. My freshman year I played for freshman and JV level. Sophomore year I played JV, and which I was captain for, and the player with the most assists on the team. Junior year I played on the varsity level and the only starter out of 5 juniors. My senior year I am currently the Captain for the Varsity level and playing in the center mid. My freshman and sophomore year we accomplished to win our conference and had a good record. For my soccer club, we have traveled to many states for soccer tournaments. The Disney Cup in Florida is a big one, which we have won multiple times throughout the years. I love playing club because I gain more knowledge on the game and helps me become a better player. I am an honor roll student at my school with a GPA of 3.6. My goal for every year of high school is to get straight A’s which I have achieved through out the school year. During school I have volunteered to do community work, which is something that I love doing. My goal this year is to finish the year with straight A’s and get my GPA higher and be able to attend a great college and be able to play the sport that I love which is soccer.
I bring a lot of leadership on and off the field. I love distributing the ball, and I like creating chances for my teammates. I like being a leader because it helps me as a person, and it helps the team be more united. My strengths are that I have great vision, I can play with both my left and right foot, I can create many chances for the team, and I am an open minded player. I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old, and I have developed both on and off the field as a player. Soccer is the sport that helps me get my mind off things and shows who I really am as a person and a player. My work ethic on the field and in the classroom is outstanding. I love working hard for what I want to accomplish on and off the field and not giving up on myself.
In conclusion, playing college soccer will help me as a person and a player because I have been working hard every day to be able to attend a great college and play soccer as well, and it will show me that hard work will pay off. I will bring a lot of leadership and talent to any college soccer program and I will be looking forward to speaking or meeting up with any college coach who is interested in me being a part of their soccer program.
