Personal Statement
It’s only after I played half-dozen other sports that I realized how much I love soccer. Soccer was my first sport; I started playing when I was five. I also played basketball and baseball and ran cross country and track for years. I twice placed first in high jump at regional conferences and I earned a red belt in the Korean martial art Hapkido.
By the time I got to high school, though, soccer had become my passion and my purpose.
I am Ryan Padovani from Downers Grove, Illinois. I am a junior at Downers Grove North High School in the class of 2021. I maintain a GPA above 4.0 while playing soccer year-round. I play for my high school varsity team. I also play for the soccer club I first joined in fourth grade, Roadrunners Soccer Club, as well as in futsal and NISL leagues.
What I love about soccer is the constant challenge to improve personally and as a team. With a variety of ways to play any position, soccer offers a lot of room to make my position as winger and striker my own. I work on building my own set of strengths, skills and capabilities to enhance my performance practice by practice, game by game, so I win the ball more, shoot more, score more.
I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your program and what I could bring to your team. I’m confident that my passion, dedication and skill would elevate the team’s performance.
