Personal Statement
I am currently a Junior at McHenry West High School in McHenry, IL. I have played soccer since the age of 6 and have a great love for the game. I’m passionate about being a goalkeeper. I have trained as a Goalkeeper since fifth grade with Neil Thompson, Big Cat Goalkeeping. My passion and dedication can be seen through my early 5:45 am Saturday morning training sessions with Big Cat Goalkeeping. In addition, I attend their summer camps as well. I continue to love the sport and referee for a variety of local clubs, travel, and recreational games. Currently, I play for the club Chicago Inferno 04 and 03 boy's teams. In my sophomore year, I was the JV-1 starter and ended the season as a starter for the Varsity team. Each time I'm on the field it is my goal to give it my all. I believe I am the 11th player on the field with the eyes to help all. I know I have to be the voice to help my team in navigating the field. I have to lead my team and encourage them. After each game, I might be the one to lead us off the field as a team to give high fives to our opponents but in the end, I turn around and give each of my players a high five regardless if we win or lose. I like to lead by example and giving each teammate encouragement and appreciation helps in developing our trust.
Off the field, my work ethic doesn’t stop. I continue to push myself academically by taking honor-based and AP courses ending my Sophomore year with a cumulative gpa with 4.35/4.5. I continue to help my community by being an active member of Key Club and volunteer at least 20 hours a year along with being a volunteer with the local Habitat for Humanity. I'm also involved in a few other clubs: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, NHS, and Activist Club. It is my dream to play college soccer as a goalkeeper in college where I can continue to play while pushing myself academically. My career interest is in Engineering.
