Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer since pre-school, a sport that I love that embraces my speed and athleticism while being part of a team. Although my key contribution as an outside midfielder is to create offensive opportunities with my quick-pace attack, I have played every position throughout my youth and have the versatility to contribute either as a forward or defender. I play on a top club team competing in the National League (FC United Pre-Academy) and also play high school varsity soccer which is important to me.
My biggest lesson from soccer is nothing is given to you. If you really want to achieve something, you have to earn it – period. This is the mindset I bring to the field and my life and how I handle adversity and challenges on and off the field. For example, I was denied admission to Loyola Academy my freshman year which was devastating to me. However, through hard work and dedication at Niles West High School, I raised my GPA and successfully transferred my sophomore year to Loyola Academy whose challenging classes are preparing me for college.
Thus, I am working very hard to take my development as a person and my soccer game to the next level as my Mom has always told me, “you can’t soar with the eagles if you’re hanging with the turkeys.”
I am a humble, very coachable, reliable, and an athletically versatile athlete, ready to take my game to the collegiate level.
