Hello, my name is Griffin Plaehn and I am a 2023 graduate at Columbia City High School in Indiana. At this time, I am undecided on my major, but I am thinking of pursuing a career in health sciences, engineering, or anything to do with math and science. I was born in Austin, Texas and moved to Indiana when I was 5.
I have been playing club soccer since the age of 10. Currently I play for Fort Wayne United Academy 05. 2018-2019 season, we won the State Championship for Indiana and the year prior we were state finalist. I was also fortunate enough to be part of the 1st US Development Academy team in Fort Wayne, IN for U12 age group. I have had great coaching with my club team. I’m a very versatile player. I have been playing a central midfielder as well as both right and left back for my club team @ Fort Wayne United.
My freshman year at my high school, I started on the varsity team as center attacking midfielder or forward most of the time. I was named All Conference– Honorable Mention in my district and Rookie of the Year for my high school. My sophomore year in high school, I started and was named captain for the varsity team and played as center attacking midfielder. I was also named All Conference– 2nd Team in my district as well as being voted MVP by my coaches. My junior year I was named varsity team captain again and went on to help my team bring home the first sectional title in school history. I was also named All Conference- 1st Team and selected as the Offensive Player of the Year by coaches. I am a very hard worker in school and soccer. I have always made the honor role. I also enjoy giving back to the soccer community. I got my referee license in the spring of 2019. When I am officiating younger kids, I try to teach them the game.
I love being on the soccer field playing and learning. I am very tough physically and mentally. I fight hard and never give up. I make strong tackles, I keep the ball well and I make great passes. My first touch is very good and always gets me in the direction I want to go. Over the years, my evaluations from several coaches have been very consistent. My top strength has always been my intelligence of the game. I am very good at predicting and cutting off passing lanes. I know what I am doing on the field and very confident on the ball. I’m very coachable, I listen and continue to improve season after season. I am very disciplined and I have a great work ethic on and off the field.
I also like to have fun and I get along with everyone. I have many friends and I care about them all. I am looking for a college, where I can play soccer at the highest level, where my skills are tested and I can reach my true potential, along with receiving the best education possible. Thank you for viewing my profile! Griffin Plaehn
