Personal Statement
My name is Trey Lawrence. I attend Lutheran High School, I am 5'8 145 lbs, and I have been playing soccer since 7th grade. My goal is to play soccer at the highest level possible and get a good education. I believe that academics should always come first and athletics second. I have a great work ethic and I'm always looking for improvement, which is why I have switched to honors classes. I have a huge passion for soccer and I want to continue to pursue that passion. I've never been one to give up whether I'm in the classroom or on the field. For example, if I lose the ball, I sprint my hardest to get that ball back. I am a very competitive and coachable player. I believe I got better in a such a short period of time due to the fact that I surround myself with players that are better and are faster than me. This encourages me to do better and try harder to compete with that level of play. Even though I've played for only one club team in my lifetime, FTSC (Franklin Township Soccer Club), I did well on that team. I joined having only 18 months of experience at the time and managed to keep up with my teammates and even outplay a couple. Onto my high school career, I started varsity as a freshman and was intimidated to play at the high school level at such a young age. Going into my Junior year, I was a dependable varsity starter. I really stepped it up. I started training and conditioning outside of practice. Because of the efforts of my team and I outside of practice, Lutheran High School was very successful this season (2019-2020). We won our Sectional(first time in 5 years), then we won the Regional Championship(second in school history.) We went on to win Semi-State(made school history as the first soccer team.) Lastly we became the state runner-up in Class 1A Soccer. We competed but lost the State Championship 2-1. I scored the equalizer and brought energy to the team. I couldn't have accomplished any of this, however, if it were not for the dedication of my teammates and the constant support of my coaches.
With further coaching and support, I believe I have what it takes to compete at the highest level possible. I also have this gift to know where everyone is at on the field and to anticipate where my teammates are going to make the perfect pass. Ive been invited to play on club teams but some just cost too much money. I cant wait to see where this journey will take me when I play in college.
Thanks, Trey
